Daily cleaning routine with Equimour

Daily grooming routine for your horse – horse care with heart

Daily horse care starts with a moment of calm – for you and your horse. Before you reach for the brush, take time to consciously arrive with your animal. Horses sense our energy – the more relaxed you are, the more calmly your horse reacts.

Make sure the surroundings are safe: tie your horse up securely in a quiet, fixed spot (e.g. in the grooming bay or at a tie ring). Make sure it has enough space and can stand undisturbed. Comfortable clothing and a quick check of the headcollar, lead rope and equipment ensure a good start to your shared grooming routine.

This way, daily grooming becomes not just cleaning but a familiar ritual – shaped by mindfulness, closeness and genuine trust.

Prepare your grooming box. Important grooming box contents are:
– Body brush “TORI”
– Root brush “CARA”
– Shine brush “MO”
– Mane brush “VIDI”
– Hoof pick “LILO”
– Metal curry comb “AIK”
– Grooming mitt “BONNY”

You may also need a sponge or cloth. With this equipment, you're well prepared.

1. Removing coarse dirt with the metal curry comb

After time in the paddock or when the coat is very dirty, the metal curry comb “AIK” helps loosen dried-on dirt. With its fine metal teeth, it also loosens loose hair. It's also handy for getting hair and dust out of other brushes.

2. Cleaning the body with the body brush

With the body brush “TORI” you remove loosened dust and dirt in the direction of the hair. The soft, dense bristles smooth the coat and ensure a clean, well-groomed surface. Pay attention to finer areas and brush especially gently there.

3. Cleaning the legs with the root brush

With its robust, firm bristles, the root brush “CARA” loosens stubborn mud on the legs. Work your way evenly from top to bottom. This keeps your horse clean and turns grooming into your shared moment.

4. Picking out hooves with the hoof pick

With the hoof pick “LILO” you safely remove dirt and small stones from the frog grooves. You then loosen firmer dirt with the densely set metal bristles. Well-cared-for hooves are the basis for every enjoyable ride.

5. Caring for mane & tail

First loosen knots in the tail and mane by hand, then the mane brush “VIDI” comes into play. Work your way up from the bottom end so you don't pull unnecessarily on the long hair.

6. Shine and finishing touch with the shine brush

The shine brush “MO” with its extra fine bristles adds the final touch. It removes fine dust and creates a silky finish – also on finer areas such as the face and belly.

7. A gentle finish with the grooming mitt

The grooming mitt “BONNY” provides an especially loving finish. With its soft grooming surface, you glide gently over your horse's coat. It picks up the last dust particles. BONNY works well for the head, belly and other finer areas – and for a calm end to your grooming routine.

Care after riding

After training, you should give your horse another quick clean: remove sweat and dirt with a damp sponge or the mitt “BONNY”, check the hooves and brush finer areas. This keeps the skin clean, and you'll notice pressure points early.
